    4.Eligibility criteria

    General Eligibility Conditions –

    • The scholarships are open only to Indian nationals.
    • All the components of scholarships are open to students with benchmark disability i.e., 40% or more disability as defined in ‘Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 and having a valid certificate of disability issued by the competent authority as prescribed under Rules.
    • Not more than two children with disabilities of the same parents will be entitled to receive benefits of the scheme. In case the second child is a twin, the scholarship under the schemes will be admissible to the twin.
    • Scholarship for studying in any class will be available for only one year. If a student has to repeat a class, she/he would not get scholarship for that class for a second (or a subsequent) year.
    • A scholarship holder under this scheme will not avail any other scholarship/stipend. No scholarship will be paid to the students under this scheme from the date he/she accepts any other scholarship/stipend.
    • UDID/UDID enrolment shall be mandatory for availing the benefits of the Scholarship scheme.

    Scheme Specific Eligibility Conditions –

    • This is admissible only for pursuing Graduate and Post graduate Degree/Diploma courses in Institutes of Excellence in Education as notified by the DEPwD.
    • Scholarship under this scheme shall not be admissible for pursuing distancelearning/part-time/week-end courses under any stream. Further, the award under this component cannot be considered for second or subsequent times as the individual can be awarded only once.
    • Parental Income should not be more than 8 lakhs per annum

    5.Benefits Provided

    The quantum of financial assistance underTop Class Education Scholarship for Student with Benchmark Disabilities includes the following components as mentioned below: –

    1 Reimbursement of tuition fees and non-refundable charges paid/ payable to the Institute Up to INR 2 lakh per annum (subject to actual amount)
    2 Maintenance Allowance INR 3,000/- per month for hostellers, INR 1,500/- per month for day-scholars
    3 Special Allowances (related to types of disabilities like reader allowance, escort allowance, helper allowance etc.) INR 2,000/- per month
    4 Books & Stationery INR 5,000/- per annum
    5 Reimbursement of expenses for purchase of a computer/ laptop with accessories INR 45,000/- as a one-time grant in the first year of the course. (For getting the benefit, student has to submit requisitedocuments viz.,bill/receipt as proof ofpurchase of theLaptop/Computer)
    6 Reimbursement of expenses for purchase of Aids and Assistive devices relating to the particular disability of the selected candidates INR 30,000/- as a one – time grant in the first year of the course. (The reimbursement is made based on the requisite documents viz., bills/vouchers submitted by the students to ensure genuineness of the claim.)
